Why Do We Always Argue About Money? An Astrologer's Take (Vedic + Western)

You love each other. You also have the same money argument on a loop. If it feels less like a disagreement and more like a recurring weather system, astrology has something useful to say — from both the Western and the Vedic side.

Spoiler: it's almost never about the number.

"My money" vs "our money"

In Western astrology, money lives in two different houses, and couples confuse them constantly.

  • The 2nd house is your resources — what you earn, what you value, how you'd handle money alone.
  • The 8th house is shared money — merged finances, debt, who controls what. This is where two people's instincts collide.

You can be wonderfully compatible everywhere else and still have clashing wiring in the 8th house. One of you treats money as safety to be saved; the other treats it as freedom to be spent. Neither is wrong. But when the accounts merge, those instincts grind.

Venus and Saturn: value and fear

Two planets usually run the show.

  • Venus is what you value and how you enjoy — comfort, pleasure, "life's too short."
  • Saturn is limits, control, and fear — "what if it runs out?"

When one partner's Venus meets the other's Saturn around money, you get the classic script: one feels deprived and policed; the other feels reckless and unsafe. The fight looks like it's about a purchase. It's really about value versus fear — and about who feels in control.

That's the key reframe: money fights are usually trust fights wearing a price tag.

What the Vedic side adds

Vedic matching has a whole category for this. Among the eight kutas, Bhakoot — worth a hefty 7 of 36 points — speaks directly to money, family welfare, and shared direction after you commit. A strained Bhakoot doesn't mean you're broke; it means the two of you may pull in different directions on the things money touches: home, family, security, the future. Knowing that in advance turns a mystery into a manageable, named thing.

So Western shows you the mechanism (whose Saturn is sitting on whose Venus, the 8th-house clash), and Vedic shows you the theme (the Bhakoot direction). Same fight, two useful angles.

The actual fix

Once you see it, the argument changes shape:

  • Name the wiring out loud: "I save because it makes me feel safe; you spend because it makes you feel alive." Suddenly you're partners, not opponents.
  • Separate "my money" from "our money" on purpose — give each person room in the 2nd house so the 8th house has less to fight over.
  • Treat the recurring fight as information, not a flaw. It's pointing at a need (safety, freedom, respect) that just needs to be met directly.

How Alwenna reads it

This is the exact question Alwenna was built for. Ask her, "Why do we always argue about money?" and she'll read it in both systems — the Western houses and planets driving it, the Vedic Bhakoot theme underneath — and tell you, in plain language, what the fight is really about and how to defuse it.

Bring her the two of you. Ask the question you actually have. Ask Alwenna about you two →
