Why I'm building Alwenna

Hi. My name is Fedor, and this is the first entry in the Alwenna blog — a place where I'll share how and why I'm building this project, what's going well, and what isn't.

Let me start with the big question: why another astrology app at all?

I've loved astrology for a long time

Astrology isn't a trend I picked up along the way. I've practised it for years, and I have real consultation experience — live conversations with people about their charts, their choices, their hard seasons. It was exactly those conversations that taught me what people are actually missing.

And what they're missing is simple: something clear, honest, and to the point.

What bothers me about the apps out there

When I look at what's on the market, I see two extremes:

  • Either it's very expensive — a real reading is locked behind a subscription not everyone can afford.
  • Or it talks plain nonsense — vague "the stars say be yourself today" lines, identical for millions of people and grounded in no one's actual chart.

Both miss the mark. Astrology can be accurate and accessible. It can speak in human language without dissolving into fog or scaring you with "fated" predictions.

What I want Alwenna to be

I'm building a convenient, easy-to-understand companion for astrological support — the kind you come back to for clarity, not anxiety.

A few principles hold it all together:

  1. A real chart, not a generic sign. Everything is calculated from your actual birth sky — both Western and Vedic.
  2. Human language. Alwenna explains what it means for your life in plain words — but always shows which placement the conclusion rests on. Nothing made up.
  3. The chart is a compass, not a verdict. We talk about tendencies and possibilities; the decisions always stay with you.
  4. Accessibility. The basics are free; you go deeper only when you choose to.

And what about AI?

Yes, there are AI agents under the hood — but I treat that with real responsibility. Our AI doesn't invent astrology or hand you "stellar wisdom" out of thin air. It takes the verified facts of your chart and helps Alwenna talk about them warmly, humanly, and to the point. Done competently and professionally — otherwise there's no point.

What's next

I'll write here about how the project evolves: what we add, what decisions we make and why, where we get it wrong and what we learn. No sugar-coating — as honestly as Alwenna talks with you about your sky.

Thanks for stopping by. If you'd like to try it — the app is here. I'm off to write the next chapter. ✨
